ROCKWOOL Thermalrock® B is a flexible stone wool insulation blanket suitable for pitched roof applications in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Available in a range of thicknesses and densities, with foil faced and unfaced options, it combines reliable thermal performance with acoustic and non-combustible properties.

Thermalrock B is suitable for pitched roof constructions where a non-load-bearing insulation blanket can be appropriately supported and installed as part of the roof system.

External Walls

ROCKWOOL Rainscreen is a rigid, non-combustible stone wool insulation solution developed specifically for use in ventilated cladding systems, including systems incorporating steel frame, timber frame or masonry walls. When tightly butted, adjacent slabs form a continuous insulation layer, helping to reduce heat loss that can occur through gaps.

What happens if ROCKWOOL insulation gets wet?

ROCKWOOL stone wool insulation is moisture resistant and vapour permeable. If it becomes damp or wet, it can be allowed to dry thoroughly. Once dry, the insulation can continue to provide its intended performance, provided it has not been physically damaged or contaminated.

Before reinstalling or enclosing insulation that has become wet, the source of the moisture should be identified and addressed.

Is ROCKWOOL safe to use?

Yes, when handled and installed as directed. ROCKWOOL stone wool insulation supplied for the Australian market is classified as non-hazardous under the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and has an FBS-1 classification under the Australian building industry’s Voluntary Building Product Information Rating System.

FBS-1 is the highest rating under this system and indicates that a product has been assessed as presenting a low health hazard when used in accordance with the manufacturer’s safety and handling guidance.

As with other fibrous insulation materials, handling or cutting ROCKWOOL may generate dust and fibres that can cause temporary irritation to the skin, eyes or respiratory system. Appropriate work practices and personal protective equipment should therefore be used during installation.

ROCKWOOL stone wool fibres are certified as having low biopersistence and are classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as Group 3 – not classifiable as to their carcinogenicity to humans.
